A month or so ago...

A month or so ago, my wife went to the gynecologist for her yearly checkup. The usual questions were asked, my wife mentioned her fairly frequent yeast infections, and how for the past few months her usual treatment hasn't worked and wondered if something changed.

Tests were run, the results came back, and my wife has herpes. Now, both of us think that this is odd, since we are both faithful it came as a bit of a shock...read more

HERPES FAQ - What you should know about it when dating
What is Genital Herpes?
Genit*l herpes is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) caused by the herpes simplex viruses type 1 (HSV-1) and type 2 (HSV-2). Most genital herpes is caused by HSV-2. How to catch genital herpes

To catch genital herpes, the first step is to have low self esteem. See ladies, this is when you spread your legs for love, just because he says "Aww boo you mean so much to me" just to fill that void you have always been missing due to the fact that your daddy never gave you the attention you need. Slap on that mac makeup, slop up those lips with that dior gloss and put on your "fuck me pumps." It’s what you DON’T know that could hurt you

I recently accepted an offer to review Private MD Lab and their site. They seem to have simplified and streamlined the entire process, making it much easier and more stress free for consumers. You select a Patient Service Center close to you, then order the tests you want either on their site or via their tollfree number.

Thankfully, you don’t need an appointment, which to me, is one of the biggest bothers when it comes to dealing with a conventional doctor’s office. You can browse their complete range of tests by name or category. Some tests offered include allergen testing, cholesterol testing, cancer detection, STD testing, HIV testing, diabetes screening, and herpes testing. read more

Preventing herpes

Many of my patients have herpes, which makes sense since we see it in 20% of adults.

I mostly follow the guidance of Tori Hudson, ND of Portland, and favor the following supplements:
Lysine 3 grams/day for 3 months, then 1 gram per day
Vitamin E 400-800 IU/day

Here is some guidance on nutrition and herpes... read more

This has come up a couple of times, and I'm all bollixed up. Latest case, we went out a couple of times on casual sort-of dates, so it seemed too early to bring it up: "Hey, I know we're just friends, but just in case that changes, you should know I have herpes" doesn't really work for me. On the other hand, she is a lot younger than me and expects me to make the move. But it seems unsportsmanlike to wait 'til we're in the clinches, when she's all lit up and maybe even a little buzzed, to drop it on her. Good advice would be greatly appreciated... read more

Biovail has high hopes for sexual-dysfunction drug, but Q2 revenue and profit sag

TORONTO (CP) - Biovail Corp. (TSX:BVF) has high hopes for new drugs, including a secret sexual-dysfunction remedy, while reporting sagging second-quarter sales and profits.

Second-quarter research and development expenditures were $28.4 million, up from $18.4 million a year earlier. Meanwhile, selling, general and administrative costs were cut to $46.3 million from $66.7 million.Product sales were down 22 per cent to $190.8 million, largely reflecting the December launch of generic competition for Wellbutrin XL, whose sales fell to $53 million, from $114 million a year ago. Revenue from generic products crumbled to $11.3 million from $32.8 million.

Partly offsetting those declines were rising sales of painkiller Ultram ER, herpes treatment Zovirax and angina drug Cardizem LA. read more

Rx for Drug Ads

Imagine a pharmaceutical company being able to find out how asthma sufferers are responding to its commercials.

This is actually a service that’s offered by IAG Research, which scores TV shows on the attentiveness of their viewers and researches whether commercials are being recalled and viewed favorably...

Fariba Zamaniyan, senior VP of IAG Research’s Pharmaceutical Practice, said IAG screens its sample for 30 conditions in which drug companies market directly to consumers, including asthma, allergies, erectile dysfunction, herpes, diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. The research company even knows when a respondent in its sample has two conditions, because some drugs are designed to take care of two ailments.
